There are several options for using Numbered Pins, or be creative and formulate a method that works best for you!

Numbering Rows:
After organizing your blocks, rows, or columns simply place Pin #1 in the first block of the first row. Place a #2 pin in the first block of the second row, a #3 pin in the first block on the third row, etc..

Stack the blocks in each row from left to right, keeping the numbered block on top. You now have convenient stacks of numbered rows ready for assembly.

Numbering Blocks:
Simply place Pin #1 in the first block of the first row. Continue numbering blocks sequentially until all blocks are numbered in the first row. Place a #2 pin in the first block of the second row and continue numbering blocks sequentially until all blocks are numbered in the second row. Continue until all blocks are numbered.

For example: A quilt top contains 30 blocks (5 across and 6 down). The first row will read 1,2,3,4,5, second row 2,3,4,5,6, third row 3,4,5,6,7, etc…

OR

Number all blocks in sequential order. For example: A quilt top contains 20 blocks (4 across and 5 down). Place Pin #1 in the first block and continue numbering all blocks sequentially until all pins numbered 1-20 are used. The first row will read 1,2,3,4, second row 5,6,7,8, third row 9,10,11,12, etc. After 20 pins, begin again with #1.
